Background — Jessica C. Lief
“Never, never underestimate the power of desire. If you want to live badly enough, you can live. The great question, at least for me, was: How do I decide I want to live?”
Marya Hornbacher, Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia

I bring a deeply integrated approach to psychotherapy, shaped by years of clinical practice, rigorous study, and teaching. My work sits at the intersection of psychodynamic thought, relational practice, feminist and womanist theories, and embodied awareness, while always staying anchored to the lived reality of the people I serve.

Over time, I have cultivated training that is both broad and precise—spanning depth psychology, trauma-informed care, supervision and consultation, and community-based leadership. I approach learning as a lifelong commitment, and I translate that commitment into pragmatic, compassionate care. This page serves as a concise hub for the foundations that inform my practice today.
